The U.S. Mixed Doubles Championship officially began in 1892 and was played in conjunction with the women's singles and doubles until 1921. Starting in 1921, mixed doubles was combined with the men's doubles program of the U.S. National Championships.In recent years, current world number one, Roger Federer has claimed the the us open tennis men's singles title as his own. He has won four back-to-back US Open crowns, and in the process dispatched Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and lastly, Novak Djokovic . The US Open tennis tournament is chronologically the fourth and final event of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments.

 

the us open tennis is preceded by the other three majors - the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon, but unlike the other events, the US Open has introduced a final set tiebreak. In the other Grand Slam events the fifth set (men) and the third set (women) continue until one player wins by two games.
